The Arts inspire children to love to learn and help them discover their personal, intrinsic motivation. At Te Akau ki Papamoa, we believe in providing opportunities for our learners to explore all of the Arts.
Visual art is featured as a regular in class programmes, and is celebrated biennially in the form of a whole school art exhibition.
Our annual dramatic production involves all year 5 and 6 students, whether acting, singing, dancing, or creating props and digital backgrounds. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their drama and performing arts skills for friends and family.
Music is highly valued at our school. Regular singing takes place at school as well as the WBOP Music Festival and the Kids for Kids choir. We also offer music lessons from qualified music teachers during school time including keyboard, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drums and stomp-style percussion called “Fuse”. We are excited to now also offer vocal coaching.
Each year our school participates in the Freshmoves dance festival, which encourages learners of all abilities with a love of dance to get involved. Student success at the MADE Awards is a reflection of a digital creativity focus at our kura.
