…from the sport’s corner…
Term One is very busy for our school in terms of sport’s clubs and inter-school competitions. It is important that students listen to the daily notices for meeting times and read the newsletters with whanau each week. In the near future, there will be an information booklet kept at the front office that provides an overview of sport & staffing each term.
There will be meetings next week for students interested in the following codes:
- Ripper Rugby World Cup (years 3 -6)
- Summer Basketball Training (external programme)
- Flippaball
- AFL Kiwikick (after school programme)
- Saturday Morning Junior Cricket (external clubs)
This term also sees ‘Top Schools’ selections taking place. More information will be available next week.
With so many opportunities for students to get involved in sporting activities this term, I would encourage all students and whanau to enjoy the outdoors of summer and get fit together!
February is BikeWise month!!!
This promotion is to get kids more on bikes than being dropped off by parents (less congestion, better health, etc). Some kids don’t have bikes and with this competition we want to be able to give them everything they need to get biking.
During the first 2 weeks of Term 1 ZM Thunder will be out and about as well handing out flyers encouraging kids to take part. They will also have some bike goodies to give away.
Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Matua Rueben Parkinson who has joined our whanau as TAkP Sport’s Coordinator. Matua will be working alongside students and teachers in promoting sport school wide. We look forward to his experience and energy.
